Hello! I am
Alex Maggio. I have been developing iOS mobile applications for more than 10 years. Since 2015 I’ve been working mainly in
Swift, before that I worked in
Objective-C and
C++.
During this period, I worked in all kind of projects from games to applications, in small and medium teams (any number from 1 to 10 developers) and varying client sizes usually located in the US, UK and France.
My career spans more than 15 years, I also worked as a desktop applications developer using Visual Basic, C, Unity3D and Visual Basic for Applications.

- Joined as a mentor / guide as the team of JR and SSR developers started developing a digital wallet. My tasks consisted on helping the other devs grow and act as a source of knowledge and blockers remover.

- Work on developing an app aimed at landlords and facility managers for a start up in the real estate industry. We used a derivate of the TCA, and the UI was written entirely in SwiftUI.

- Brought a project across the finish line that was written by another team. I was tasked with writing a synchronization layer.
- Stabilized the number of tickets reported by QA, by leading the team of three to solve around 80%.
Feb 2021 - May 2023
- Maintained and developed new features for two IoT related app.
- Created a foundation project to use in one client library of apps. The focus of this was to be able to reuse functionalities we already implemented.
- Created a framework to detect driver drowsiness using ARKit and a proof of concept using MLKit.
Aug 2020 - Feb 2021
- Worked on the migration from React Native to Native of one client's crypto currency app.
Dec 2017 - May 2020
- Managed Buenos Aires office.
- Involved in recruiting and retaining people for different teams. Reduced the recruitment process time by 20% by introducing a simple written test to evaluate candidates.
- Maintained and developed new features for a workforce management app. Managed a team of 4. We refactored the old codebase allowing near 50% increase in the implementation of experimental features
- Maintained and developed new features for a white label banking app. Originally the project was designed for 5 credit unions, but the reception by users was so good that it was used in near 100 credit unions.
- Development for several clients, industries ranging from financial to health and fitness.
- Worked on the proposal and formalization of processes related to CI and the creation of a components library, to be used in all future projects.

- Developed and launched the MVP of the native version of the previous hybrid app related to the real estate sector.

- Developed an app for a health insurance company based on Puerto Rico, whose main audience were senior citizens and people with disabilities, the app introduced me to the world of accessibility
- Rewrote an app for a payment processor in Central America that allowed the user to connect a card reader to the device and provide new payment methods for services.

- Developed a VR application using Unity3D for an expo.

- Created an internal tool to automate the translation of the games. This made adding new languages easier and faster.
